After incorporation in 1994, we utilized our first four years to build a base of funds for scholarships, primarily from Founder Edgar W. McCurry, Jr. Our first scholarships were awarded for the Fall Semester of 1998.

The following charts follow the application and grant letting process for these last nine years:

Over the past ten years The McCurry Foundation, Inc. has granted 259 scholarships totaling $208,500. First year grants average $1,000. McCurry Scholars have an average weighted GPA of 4.07 and through 2006 an average SAT score of 1174. Our scholarship recipients have attended 38 campuses in ten states. McCurry Scholars include National Merit finalists, student government, club and church leaders, as well as accomplished athletes, thespians and musicians.

The McCurry Foundation fosters leadership in young Americans by enabling more local students to earn a college degree. The Foundation has in years past relied primarily upon the generosity our founding benefactor. However, our goal is to broaden our impact among America’s young people. We realize that we must reach more students and grant more scholarship money to each. This goal allows you to play an active part.

As an individual or family, you can give what you can, when and as often as you can. As a business owner or corporate executive, you can take our story to your company’s philanthropic or community relations decision maker so that you and others can put us on your annual giving plan! As a member of a civic organization, you can refer us to your charitable giving committee.

The McCurry Foundation, Inc. was founded in 1994 and incorporated as a Florida not-for-profit corporation with a 501(c)(3) exemption status. Contributions to the Foundation are considered by the IRS to be charitable deductions for the donor.
